American Idol Update
The latest news to hit the air that I just found out is about the contestant Joanna Pacitti who tried out on last Wednesday night’s auditions and made it through to the Hollywood week. She was actually one of the ones I really liked and thought had a great voice. Well now it has come to my attention that she has already released an album on Geffen records, she has been on Broadway and she appeared on a few soundtracks amongst other things.
This kind of news upsets me! I thought American Idol was a stepping stone for people who are trying to make it in the singing industry, not for those who have maybe already tried and failed. Especially those who have already made an album or have already built up a fan base which gives them an advantage over all the other contestants.
Just another one of the reasons why each year more and more I am beginning to not like the show. The contestants who make it onto the show should have absolutely no advantage what so ever against all the other contenders! Come on the show originally was suppose to be for someone who is a nobody to become a star and record an album, to see if they had attained a enough quality of likability factor and go on to bigger and better things.
My feelings, Joanna already has an advantage and should not be allowed to be on the show. Please I would love to hear your comments on how you feel about this latest Idol news.

Hmm.. I thought the idol contestants weren’t allowed to enter if they had recorded and released an album through an established record label. It’s not as if she’s been doing it all on her own. That’s Geffen records we’re talking about.
But Bob Caine has certainly got a point regarding Terry Fader. Let’s just see how it goes.. but it does kinda throw me off a little. I would truly love to see someone who has made it from nothing, like Carrie Underwood and all the past American Idol winners.
